Hi Philippe,
Shadow Cast allows structures between a sound source and a receiver location to block the sound from traveling to that location. This will occur for high frequencies. However, for middle & low frequencies the sound may not be affected by the structure.

Hope this helps.

When: there is an obstacle in the room (a Face or a volume of Faces) that would cause an acoustic shadow somewhere in the audience. But, as noted by Charlie, this decision is also linked with the frequency of interest and the size of such barrier. If the barrier is small enough you might want to neglect it deactivating the Shadow Cast, since it would only affect higher frequencies.

Where: this function is available from each Face properties sheet (from the Edit Project module) and also as a main switch in the Calculation Parameters window (Area and Room mapping modules).
