Rookie running back Omarion Hampton provided the spark, breaking three tackles on a physical 16yard run that set the tone Herbert finished the drive himself, tucking the ball and racing 15 yards into the end zone to give Los Angeles the first points of the Chiefs responded in typical fashion. Patrick Mahomes led a balanced march down the field, turning to Hollywood Brown as his goto option. The receiver caught five passes on the drive for 38 yards, including the touchdown grab that leveled the score. Mahomes also showcased his mobility, adding 20 yards on the ground with two timely of the first quarter: Chiefs 7, Chargers 7Second quarterHerbert absorbed a massive hit from linebacker Nick Bolton on a readoption keeper, but it didn't slow him down as he engineered another efficient drive. His biggest throw came on a 30yard strike to Keenan Allen that moved the Chargers deep into the red zone.
