| Any word/update/guidance on if/when Acousteer will work/be supported on Parallels/VM's? Running on a current/stout M3 Macbook Pro with plenty of horsepower. Spoken with other users on beefy machines with the same issues. Heard through the grapevine Stefan might make a statement on it/that it was a known issue? Excited to use this feature but it's untenable currently...
Thanks AFMG team! |

| I would love to see a solution for this as well! I have a new M4 MacBook Pro and can't use GPU acceleration. I don't really want to have another computer just for EASE.
Please help those of us that use Parallels! |

| Dear All,
Thank you for your interest in the Acousteer real-time engine. We appreciate our EASE users a lot, both on MS Windows PC as well as on Apple Mac using Parallels Desktop.
Acousteer real-time simulation is based on a hybrid CPU/GPU engine that requires both components to be reasonably fast. On PC-based systems almost all Nvidia, AMD and Intel-based GPUs can be used. That also applies to virtualized operating systems like VMware. However, on Mac-based systems the Parallels virtualization platform does not support any GPU functionality. Also, the underlying Apple operating system supports only the proprietary Metal API and neither OpenCL nor CUDA. Both of these issues are publicly acknowledged and indeed represent an obstacle for software solutions like ours and end users like you.
Because of these technical issues, at the moment Acousteer is unfortunately not available on Parallels Desktop at its design speed. We are investigating possible solutions and workarounds but these may be difficult to establish or may become available only mid-term.
More technical details are listed in the EASE 5 system requirements:

| Thanks Frank! I broke down and purchased my first windows machine in nearly 25 years...
I'm hopeful the current and future proposed performance improvements will justify the purchase as I'm sure resources will be primarily devoted to bringing the other functions into the main program vs. solving Parallels issues. |
