STI - Consider Noise Levels (why!?)

When doing a standard STI calculation in AURA, why is there a 'Consider Noise Levels' check box in the options tab after the calculation has run?

Wouldn't the specified noise levels already be inherent in the calculation?

No, only this option enables S/N correction for calculation of STI and derived measures according to IEC 60268-16.
