How should one model a studio control room that have layer of walls and materials in to EASE? By layered wall I mean isolated wall then tons of insulation for bass traping then inside acoustic wall.

I like to see how the bass trap is contribute to room's acoustic

Any thought?

Thank You all in advance. Very Happy

Dear user,

Regarding the simulation of layers of materials, AFMG has recently developed a program software for that purpose, called SoundFlow. With this tool one can define the layer materials and simulate the overall behavior of the structure. Several acoustical parameters can be simulated, such as transmission loss (TL), input impedance, absorption/reflection coefficients and other. The calculated data can than be exported to an existing EASE material, or you can create a new one. For more information, please refer to the link bellow.

With respect to studio room acoustics simulation, one should be careful since the dimensions of the room might have a comparable size with the wavelengths. The modal behavior on lower frequencies would then dominate, which means that you would not be able to use geometrical and statistical acoustics for that lower frequencies.

A graph showing the "controllers of steady-state room acoustic response" can be found, for example, in the book pointed on the link bellow - page 178. Notice that there is a formula you can use to calculate the critical frequency for a given room, above which geometrical acoustics assumptions would be valid or reasonable enough.

Hello.
The graph looks very reassuring. And the explanation is quite good and well structured.
But I'd rather check it out myself if you let me.

Sure Wink

I would be glad to hear about your findings.

Best Regards
