Relative Volumes of Auralizations

We are auralizing a project and are surprised at the relative volumes of the results (expected more variation). Do the wav files that are created automatically take into account relative volume? Meaning: if we play the wav files at the same levels we should be able to hear the relative volume differences at different listener positions?

Thanks!

You have to make sure that the binaural files used for the auralization are not normalized. That's the case if you calculate the bir files with AURA Response. As workaround just calculate first response files and create bir files afterwards with EARS. In EARS select BIR Filter Info from the Graphs menu to check the bir file levels.

I have used not normalized files and the MaleVoice.wav provided by EASE, I did the filters as you explain:
Aura Calculations - Open Ears and open RSP files - Make binaural response.

The levels in the Filter info are correct, if one listening position is farther the Level is less but when I make the auralization and analyze the wav files with an FFT the levels are very similar..

(I have tested it in a room of 70 meters long with 2 listeners (First one at 2m of the speaker and second one at 69m) and the levels were similars too).

Thanks in advance.

May you can provide us your binaural and wav files for checking. If yes, please send it (or a download link) to support@afmg.eu.

Auralization lake convolver output files are not normalized.

When using the offline Method you can check "Set Volume To File Level".
When checked, EARS Wave Player adjusts the playback level of multiple files to maintain their levels relative to each other.
