I'm designing the 70V distributed system for a 30000 sq. ft manufacturing facility. Is there any way to model high sound level (95-105 dB) noise sources (machinery, equipment, etc.) individually in EASE to predict how they may impact STI. I've already tried modeling theses noise sources as speakers, but it hasn't seemed to impact STI at all. I'm completely new to EASE so please bear with me. Also does anyone know of 70V-30W horns loudspeakers that are modeled in EASE? Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

You can first model the noise source as loudspeaker and calculate the noise level for a certain position. In a second calculation you can use this noise level as background noise and calculate the STI for the position.

Frank,

Thank you for the response! Yes that would help me determine the average ambient sound level from the machine noise. However the ambient near the machine end of the facility will be much higher than the ambient at the far end (mostly just storage racks). Essentially can I set different ambient sound levels in the same room?

No, unfortunately you can't set different ambient sound levels. But you can set a certain level which is valid for a certain position and then calculate the STI for this position.

It's been a while since I've done this kind of project but can't you model your noise sources as speakers and then do ray tracing to calculate the STI at a particular location? As I recall I used to let things run overnight to get the density required for useful results. You can then also auralize the calculated sound.

In terms of a 30W horn modeled in EASE, I think the polars for the Atlas 15W are similar, just raise the level by 3 dB or use 3 dB less headroom.
