Hi there.
I have used Ease Junior and Ease standard versions.

RT60 function in Junior use statistic to calculate RT60
Ease standard I understand its local decay time function.

Both calculations do not care how a speaker is setup.
I read from Ease sample file. it says local delay time is computed based on omni-directional source.
And I based my work on the EASE Local delay time.
The calculation from Basic RT and Local delay time is not that much different from each other.

Months ago I had a chance to try Aura module.
Rt60 from aura (T10, T20, T30, or EDT) are night and day different than Ease standard's Local decay time.
I simply used a spherical speaker pointed to the ceiling of the room.
I assume that's why a result looked weird and unreliable

My questions for the Aura module are,
- How to properly setup a sound source.
- A spherical speaker pointed to the ceiling. is it correct? or just point from the front to the end of the room?
- I tried setting up speakers with various aiming points. the computed RT60 figures are totally not the same. Do I have to setup many speakers in the room to make it omni-directional.
- I merely want have the Rt60 which is correct and calculation is done fast.

Thank you for guiding a beginner. I am trying to learn and upgrade from standard to Aura module.

Hi,

1. If it is a SPHERE, it doesn't really matter where you direct it. But your location is usually placed where the typical sound source will be. For instance, in a theater - at the stage. Please see ISO 3382 and a number of text references for the topic. That's not really a doubt about EASE itself Wink
2. T10, T20 and T30 will converge to statistical calculations only for rooms where the statistical formulae are applicable (shoebox, random distribution of materials, live enough, etc.). EDT is subjectively different than the others. Please refer to literature.
3. Do NOT setup many speakers.
4. If your RT values with AURA don't converge between simulations, verify if you have enough particles via the histogram in the View Calculation window. See EASE Tutorial.

*Now with a small but important correction. Wink

Kind Regards,
Pedro
