I am using the latest version of Easera, and understand how to obtain an absolute measurement in "View & Calc Mode" by entering the appropriate external gain to prevent the input from being "normalized" based on a 1V output.

However, my question is: why is this step needed? i.e., if the system is calibrated & returns an accurate absolute measurement in Live mode, why are extra steps required to view an accurate absolute measurement in View & Calc mode? I.e., what is the advantage to normalizing the input signal based on a 1V output?

The point is, that the dBSPL is not the right unit for an Impulse Response (and the Transfer Function). Since it is a relative function, you should use dB as the unit.
The transfer function is not a function of the measurement signal, including the measurement level!
EASERA has the opportunity for showing dBSPL for showing the level for a full calibrated measurement circe (including output) only.
