Hello again -

The D-Audio USB sound card works perfectly in my EASERA demo when selecting 16 bit, whether I select Wave/MME or Direct Sound mode.

I am unable to get its input to function with 24 bits, which is selectable only in Wave/MME mode. I do get output from the device with the 24 bit selection. In Direct Sound mode, only the 16 bit selection is available.

Is this a limitation of the D-Audio with EASERA, or am I doing something wrong? The both 16 bit and 24 bit modes work fine with Smaart v5.4.

Thanks.

Hello,

we use EASERA 1.1.3 and the D-Audio also with 24 Bit, for Input and Output, with no problems.

EASERA restricts itsself to 16 Bit only when in DirectSound Mode.
But in Wave/MME you can select the better bit depth if it works.

Do you use Smaart with the same computer? May be the USB driver is not up to date? Can you test EASERA and D-Audio at another (newer) computer?

Waldemar

Hello Waldemar:

I figured it out well enough for my needs - the D-Audio USB sound card will function correctly at 24 bits in EASERA if a sampling rate of 44.1kHz or lower is chosen. 48kHz will not work, though does work my other Windows based audio software such as Smaart v5.4. I have never found sampling rates higher than 44.1kHz useful in acoustic work anyway.

My hardware may be at issue here, I use the latest MacBook Pro and run EASERA via Bootcamp.
