I have some problems when I try to do the example that appears at the page 263 of the EASE 4.0 tutorial guide. I select the faces (f4 & f6, f10, f11 &f12), then select the loudspeaker (main) etc…. when I do ray trace the result is a lot of rays come out of the room, and nothing similar to the picture shown in the guide.

I'm curious whether your room is constructed properly.

It almost sounds like the surfaces are inverted.

It's not hard to build a room inside out.

Go to the view room RT menu and make sure that the reverberation time is as expected.

If it's a very low number you may have the surfaces on the outside of the room and the inside made of all absorbers or something odd like that.

The inside surface of a room is yellow when selected and the outside is white.

You can easily invert each surface by highlighting the face then clicking the right mouse button and selecting *Invert* from the menu.

Hope this helps.

Best Regards

Peter Patrick

It sounds like Peter is correct, and that your room is inside out. A quick way of fixing this is to select one face --> invert it the correct way (yellow on the inside, white on the outside) --> hit *H* for check holes --> select auto orientation --> then if you didnt unselect the face that you corrected earlier click *close holes*. If its a simple room then this should work with out any problems.

If you did unselect your corrected face just click it and then try *close holes*

When I did the tutorial I used a prototype, so that might make things easier???

Thanks Peter & Josh, but the room is ok (no inside out)... Jim answered me and the problem was solved.

I reply part of the answer...

*...The problem seems to be if you calculate the Rays with only some faces

active. Do the Ray Tracing with all faces active and then, when the

calculation has finished, select the faces you wish to use and toggle on Use

Only Selected Faces and Draw Only Reflected Rays....*
